Mayor Sadiq Khan has told London residents “We should be ashamed that our young people – the next generation of Londoners – are being exposed to these tiny particles of toxic dust that are seriously damaging their lungs and shortening their life expectancy.

Restrictions and new legislation should be observed nationwide, to help treat this growing threat to public safety.

It is suggested that the problem far exceeds the confines of the M25 and the rise in dangerous levels of toxic pollution is widespread throughout the UK. Furthermore, air pollution costs the UK £20bn each year. Even the most aggressive regulatory action will cost less than that and will take a huge burden off our already highly pressurised NHS.
